SILVA, Eduardo Galera da et al. Comparative analysis of the discrepancies between the seating of metal copings obtained by NiCr alloy casting and titanium powder sintering. RPG, Rev. pós-grad. [online]. 2011, vol.18, n.3, pp. 154-159. ISSN 0104-5695.
The purpose of this work was to evaluate the discrepancies between the seating of metal copings by casting and sintering. Two groups of eight metal copings were compared; one was submitted to the casting technique (NiCr) and the other to the sintering technique (Ti-6Al-7Nb). The adaptation of both groups to a metal die was evaluated; its characteristics and measurements were proportional to a total crown preparation in molar. The reading of the adaptation was performed in eight equidistant points to the perimeter of each coping by a digimatic micrometer head mounted on an optical gauging microscope (Mitutoyo Mfg. Co., Tokyo, Japan). The data obtained was submitted to the Student´s t-test in which was verified that the comparison between the mean did not present statistically significant differences (t = 0.440; gL = 14.000; p = 0.668) to the 5% level. The mean values were close and had the same variability (coefficient of variation = 34.41 and 34.50%). It can be concluded that the casting and sintering procedures did not influence the marginal adaptation of the metal copings and the titanium copings, obtained by sintering, can be a satisfactory alternative to the restoration of prosthetic elements.
