The purpose of this study was to assess the effectiveness from an e-learning training course on Atraumatic Restorative Treatment (ART). The course presented the ART philosophy and technique by using different resources (DVD - 40 minutes). The sample consisted of undergraduate students in Dentistry / UNIP Campinas and sixty students were invited, thirty started and seventeen finished the study. Participants were submitted to an assessment process before and after the distance-training course. A single calibrated researcher corrected the tests (ICC = 0.991, 95% CI=0.975 to 0.996). Participants showed knowledge improvement after the course (p˂0.0005), however, the final average of all students was below 6.0. In conclusion, this e-learning course has the potential of improving the ART knowledge but the use of other teaching and learning strategies is recommended when applied to undergraduate students.
