Abstract

SILVA, Francisco Cláudio Fernandes Alves e et al. A modified impression technique using a vinyl polysiloxane material. Rev. Assoc. Paul. Cir. Dent. [online]. 2016, vol.70, n.4, pp. 364-368. ISSN 0004-5276.

The described technique allows the use of vinyl polysiloxane, one of the most used materials on impression, through a simple and fast procedure that can be widely used in prosthetic procedures. By removing a part of the heavy material, a vinyl polysiloxane coping is made, similar to those made with acrylic resin and with the same capacity of displacing the soft tissue around the preparation, allowing an detailed impression of the margins without damage of this tissue. This simple change in technique can improve the quality of dental impressions with no added cost or time.

Keywords : clinical protocols; dental impression technique; fixed partial denture; silicone elastomers; dental marginal adaptation..
