The surgical-restorative model, which results in repetitive restorative cycle and culminates with the loss of dental elements, is still practiced by many professionals and dental students. Although some advices on oral hygiene are performed mechanically, the fact is that the practice is really distant from the concepts. The lack of focused clinical protocols for the control of the health-disease process and still its multifactorial caracteristhics may explain this finding. For this reason, the aim of this work is to suggest a model of clinical protocol that will help the systematization and standardization of care to evaluate and control health-caries disease process.
