Avaliação in vitro da resistência ao cisalhamento de três materiais adesivos na colagem de braquetes ortodônticos. RPG, Rev. pós-grad. [online]. 2010, vol.17, n.2, pp. 63-68. ISSN 0104-5695.
Objective: This study evaluated the resistance of the shear strength to the union enamel/ resin/brackets, of three adhesive materials: Transbond XT (3M Unitek) of specific orthodontic use, RelyX ARC (3M) and Enforce (Dentsply). Materials and methods: We used 60 bovine teeth that were set in PVC tubes containing acrylic resin. The specimens were divided into three groups according to cementation material used. The cementation of the brackets in the teeth was performed and, after 24 hours, the resistance of the shear strength tests were accomplished in a Versat 2000 universal testing machine at a 1 mm/min speed and 50 kgf loading cell. The results acquired were submitted to one-way variance analysis (ANOVA) and to the Tukey test. Results: No significant differences were observed between the assessed materials (p<0.05). Conclusion: The resins tested presented enough adhesion to resist the orthodontic treatment, which constitutes a viable alternative for orthodontic cementation.
