FORONDA, Rodrigo    ELIAS, Fernando Melhem. Evaluation of two computer programs in predicting the facial profile of patients undergoing orthognathic surgery. RPG, Rev. pós-grad. []. 2011, 18, 4, pp. 229-235. ISSN 0104-5695.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the simulation of two computer programs in predicting the soft tissue profile following orthognathic surgery. Eleven records of patients who underwent bimaxillary orthognathic surgery were studied. The radiographic cephalometric and photographs of these records were digitized and analyzed in the programs Dolphin Image and Nemoceph. We compared the soft tissue points between real images and those generated by both programs. The results showed no significant differences in the studied points unless the lower lip point in the Nemoceph program. The authors conclude that the two programs are useful tools for the daily routine of professionals, both assisting in planning the event, as in the preview of the final outcome for the patient.
