BRITO-JUNIOR, Manoel et al. Bibliometric study of Brazilian manuscripts published in international journals of endodontics: 2008-2010. Arq. Odontol. []. 2011, 47, 2, pp. 84-89. ISSN 1516-0939.

Aim: This study investigated the representation of Brazilian publications, as well as the profile of Brazilian studies, published in the Journal of Endodontics and the International Endodontic Journal. Materials and Methods: All articles published between January 2008 and December 2010 in the Journal of Endodontics and International Endodontic Journal were accessed in the site http://www.periodicos.capes.gov.br. Two researchers assessed the articles as regards the design, the topic, and the country of origin. Brazilian studies have yet to be characterized according to the State and the institution of the authors. Descriptive analysis was performed using SPSS 17.0 Results: In this period, 1.381 articles (988 from Journal of Endodontics and 393 from International Endodontics Journal) were published. Brazil was ranked second in the production of scientific papers during this period, with 232 publications (16.7%). The studies that led to these publications were developed mainly from laboratory experiments that focused primarily on issues related to materials and instruments used in endodontic practices, as well as to endodontic microbiology (82.7%). Most of these studies originated from public universities within the state of São Paulo. Conclusions: The number of Brazilian papers published in the last three years in major international journals of Endodontics was significant, achieving a second place standing in the world.
