Aim: To investigate the inclusion of dental services within the hospital context of large hospitals in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte (MRBH), Brazil by analyzing dental supplies and the interconnection of healthcare professionals in the hospital dental services context. Materials and Methods: This work was a quantitative, descriptive, correlational study conducted through interviews, carried out by a single researcher, with the head dentist in charge of the dental department of large hospitals within MRBH. The collected data were placed in an Excel 2003 database (Microsoft) in absolute and relative frequencies. Results: This study found that 66.67% of the large hospitals of MRBH provide dental care and that 64.28% of these hospitals have had dental services for more than 16 years. The dental services most commonly performed by these hospitals include the emergency/ urgency, clinical examination, and outpatient surgery services, respectively. Dental services are offered on hospital premises at 85.71% of the hospitals. Conclusion: This study identified the existence of dental services in most large hospitals of MRBH, with strong interdisciplinary dental teams, as well as a recognition and appreciation of the dentist in this field of work.
