The necessity of raising epidemiologist's data related to the prevalence of the buccal illness on people over 60's is extremely important since it is really rare or even inexistent. It is necessary to know the buccal condition state of this age group collecting materials for the development of prevention programmes directed to this population. Considering so, the objective of our study is to evaluate the buccal condition of elderly pacients from Tiradentes University Odontological Clinic in Aracaju from 1999 to 2003. This is an epidemiologist study taken from files to analyze the number of elderly edentubus. The results show that the average percentage of edentubus was 20.7% among elderly pacients. It is indeed necessary to raise the number of elderly in this clinic because they represent only 2.5% of the total amount of the total number of pacients. This analysis also concluded that the education of these people did not interfere in the buccal health care. According to the result, it is easily noticeable the necessity of having the study of teething in elderly as a subject in the Odontology course through out the Brazilian universities so that the students will be supplied with a minimum knowledge of the elderly buccal necessities.
