This research aims to identify which programs of oral cancer prevention, carried out in the state of Pernambuco, whether in public or private institutions, in addition to other representative or philanthropic organizations, and from there, perform an evaluation analyzing the goals of each program, observing the need of change of the Epidemiologic profile of oral cancer, aiming to reduce the mortality rate caused this disease in the state of Pernambuco. Sectional study was conducted and descriptive analysis of data obtained in the gathering of information, through individual interviews with the intention of collecting information regarding the theme of the research. This information being gathered from state and city health departments of Pernambuco. After gathering this information, the result was surprising, when becoming aware of the inexistence of any oral cancer prevention program/project, in the State health department and the City health department. It was surprising because the health department of the state of PE and Recife's health department, through their oral health coordinations, confirmed the inexistence of such prevention programs. That proved that there is a countersense because the state is responsible for promoting, protecting and recovering the health of the population. However, was not given the appropriate importance, drawing attention to the fact that the three existing projects/programs in oral cancer prevention at the University of Pernambuco, the Dentistry University Caruaru and the Dentistry College of Recife, approached in different ways but of great importance in fighting the disease. Lastly, we highlight the importance of intensifying the orientation and prevention of oral cancer campaigns for all, aiming the reduction of the risk factors and promoting protection factors, besides the State carrying through with its social, economical, educational and political responsibility concerning the health of its citizens.
