The aimed of this study is to present the results of the urgency care that is performed in children aged 0-12 years in Extension Project "Emergency Room pediatric dentistry", linked to the Discipline of Pediatric Dentistry at UFES period 06-2003 to 12-2010. The data from 574 medical records were tabulated in Excel 2007 and, to assess the relationship between variables (origin, gender, age, diagnosis and treatments), were analyzed for Chi-square test and Pearson correlation. Only 28,6% of the children lived in Vitória and 53,5% were male. The reasons for the demand for dental care were caries dental (39.6%), dental trauma (31.7%) and pathological changes (28.7%), being that, 53,5% reported pain, provoked 28,3% and spontaneous 25,2%. Surgical procedures were performed (184), endodontic (93) and restorative (91). After urgency treatment, 51.6% of patients were referred for elective treatment in other clinics at the University. Based on the results, can be concluded that: most of the children served were from neighboring towns to Vitória/ES, caries was the main reason why the demand for emergency care, dental trauma was higher in younger children; pathologic changes and most children were referred to the discipline of pediatric dentistry to meet the needs of children.
