NARESSI, Suely Carvalho Mutti; FERNANDES, Aletéia Massula de Melo  e  RABELO, Sylvia Bicalho. Analysis of Changes in Federal Council of Dentistry's Standards for obtaining the title of Specialist in Dentistry. Odontol. Clín.-Cient. (Online) [online]. 2012, vol.11, n.2, pp. 113-116. ISSN 1677-3888.

The progress of Dentistry is based on the techniques and materials evolution and on the improvement and titles of the professionals involved in it as well, which could be obtained in post-graduation courses, lato or stricto sensu. Detailed rules for obtaining the title of Dentistry Specialist were amended by the CFO through resolutions 98 and 103 of 2010, modifying the Consolidation of standards for procedures in the Councils of Dentistry, Resolution 63/2005. This study aimed to review and discuss the changes, opportunities and consequences arising from the implementation of these resolutions, in the face of the precepts contained in the Federal Constitution, Criminal Code, Civil Code and Code of Dental Ethics. It can be concluded that the resolutions adopted by the CFO about title of expert are considered appropriate, because they aim to prevent the professionals whose graduation courses do not have clinical credit hours compatible with their specialty, declare themselves specialists. However, the inconsistency still remains about theoretical courses as well as the teachers, masters, PhDs and even associate professors cannot be recognized as an expert in what they knows more and also teach.
