This research has been conducted in order to analyze the importance of the removable partial denture (RPD) in the treatment of partially edentulous and the absence of studies to verify the planning, mouth preparation, and communication between the dentists and dental prosthesis technicians (DPT). The work was conducted in the city of Recife. 290 models were analyzed by five prosthetic laboratories of the Pernambuco. Two questionnaires were applied: one for the DPT responsible for the laboratory, and a second related to the investigator. The models were analyzed and photographed for recording purposes and illustration. The result of the research showed the Kennedy Class III with 44.1% as the most common. From the models analyzed, 245 (84.5%) were sent without any design and 57 (19.7%) had evidence of a mouth preparation. Only 34 among the 57 rests had correct preparation and distribution. Regarding the preparation of the guide planes, only 16 (5.5%). Communication, between the dentists and DPT, only 45 (15.5%) sent the information to build the metallic structure. The results demonstrated that nobody has been held to account for the responsibility. This is a common practice in the city of Recife. The partial denture is still neglected by dentists.
