TAVARES, Sócrates Steffano Silva et al. Surgical treatment of recurrent temporomanbidular joint dislocation by using of mini-anchors "Mitek". IJD, Int. j. dent. [online]. 2010, vol.9, n.4, pp. 198-201. ISSN 1806-146X.
The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is one of the most important and noble joints of the human body. Due to its intense and dynamic complexity, whenever their constituents come into disharmony, there will be temporomandibular disorders. Among the most common temporomandibular disorders is dislocation of the TMJ, that is characterized for the abnormal position of the condyle in relation to the mandibular fossa. Currently different surgical techniques exist aiming at the normal reestablishment of the joint. Considering that, the use of mini-anchors "Mitek" through the necessary surgical access is an alternative in determined cases, with the anchor having to be fixed and to be stabilized in the in the condyle's head and also in the posterior root of the zigomatic arch. This study aims to conduct a literature review, addressing the surgical treatment of recurrent dislocation of the TMJ through anchorage by using mini-anchors "Mitek".
