The surgically assisted maxillary expansion is an alternative for correction of transverse maxillary deficiencies. In patients undergoing this growth deficiency is corrected with orthodontic appliances or, as in adults, where the palate center is consolidated, it makes use of this surgical technique. The amount of expansion varies with the individual need of each patient, and can be performed with equipment distracter tooth borne or bone borne. In this article we report 3 cases of patients with dentofacial deformities corrected with The Rotterdam Palatal Distractor. This distractor is bone borne has several advantages over others, as it can be used in patients with periodontal problems, total edentulous patients or even patients with poor oral hygiene. After reporting these cases, we conclude that the distractor of Rotterdam will be a great alternative for patients with transverse maxillary deficiency, and easy to use, easy to install and its rate of contraindications and complications is low
