The maxillary transverse dimension is the least that grows, can cause a maxillary transverse deficiency. The surgically assisted maxillary expansion (SAME) it is often necessary in adult patients, to achieve a stable and functional occlusion. SAME consists of a procedure to assist for release the greatest resistance maxillary region through osteotomies, thus obtaining the maxillary expansion satisfactorily.
