SOUZA, Bruno Luiz Menezes de; LOPES, Pedro Henrique de Souza; NOGUEIRA, Emerson Filipe de Carvalho  e  TORRES, Belmino Carlos Amaral. Management of Atypical Dentoalveolar Trauma: Case Report. Rev. cir. traumatol. buco-maxilo-fac. [online]. 2014, vol.14, n.1, pp. 59-64. ISSN 1808-5210.

Dental injuries are odontological emergencies that require a fast but careful management. Most often, it is necessary to monitor the patient for a long period, and the incidence of this type of injury ranges from 4% to 30% in the general population. The teeth avulsion is the displacement of the tooth out of its socket and it is mandatory to promote immediate replantation of the avulsed tooth in its original bony socket when this procedure is well indicated. Trauma involving the anterior teeth has great impact and influences the function and aesthetics of the individual, affecting their social behavior. The dental trauma is an event that requires the action of several dental specialties, including surgery, dentistry, endodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics and orthodontics. The objective of this paper is to discuss a case of extensive dentoalveolar trauma in adolescent patients treated with immediate tooth replantation and splint combined with orthodontic apparatus, followed latter by endodontic treatment of affected teeth.
