The aim of this study was to evaluate the knowledge of dentists in the city of Patos- Paraíba about the diagnosis and management front of dental trauma, noting any interference of age, sector of activity (public or private), gender, experience trauma, time since graduation, specialization courses and ongoing emergency dental trauma. A two-part questionnaire containing demographic questions and knowledge was applied in 102 dentists, and conducted a survey of a cross-sectional exploratory. Data were statistically analyzed by ANOVA and t test, with a margin of error of 5%. There was no statistical difference regarding age, business sector, gender, experience trauma, time since graduation and ongoing emergency dental trauma. Only those who had specialization course showed a higher level of knowledge, with 65.69% of respondents, with p = 0,014. The results showed that most dentists have satisfactory level of knowledge regarding dental trauma, because their average accuracy of 6.39. It was concluded that the experts performed better, suggesting that the specialization courses are important for the proper and effective performance of dentists in cases of dental trauma.
