VASCONCELOS, Belmiro C. E. et al. Conduct condylar dislocation Previous Extended: Case Report. Rev. cir. traumatol. buco-maxilo-fac. [online]. 2014, vol.14, n.2, pp. 31-36. ISSN 1808-5210.
The dislocation of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is defined as an excessive forward movement of the condyle beyond the articular eminence, not self-reducible, which may be clinically divided into 3 groups; dislocation that occurred only once, recurrent dislocation and prolonged displacement. Prolonged dislocation is a rare condition with few cases reported in the literature that in most cases does not respond to manual reset, requiring surgical intervention, and requires special attention from surgeons in view of the peculiarity of each case. The objective of this work is to report a case of prolonged mandibular displacement lasting about nine months which was treated successfully by eminectomy associated elásticoterapia in class III.
