Background: The temporomandibular ankylosis is a disorder that leads to joint restriction of mandibular movements in whole or in part. The facial and cephalometric analyzes are diagnostic tools available for the evaluation of these patients in order to improve knowledge about the facial topography of these patients. Objetive: The aim of this research was to verify the facial type of patients with ankylosis of the temporomandibular joint. Methodology: The sample consisted of five patients with ankylosis of the temporomandibular joint from the bucomaxillofacial surgery servisse of the University of Pernambuco through facial and cepphalometric analysis, prior to their surgery. Results: In regard to the facial analysis, patieents haad a good contour of of the maxilla, a good nasal projection, normal or increased superior labial length, normal or decreased inferior labial length, accentuated mandibular sulcus contour and a short throat length. The cephalometric analysis showed well-positioned maxillas and retrognatic mandibles. Conclusion: This research observed the presence of na asymetric and retrognatic mandible ando n the other hand a well-positioned maxilla in na anteroposterior view, without any consequence to their growth.
