Number of victims of trauma has been increasing significantly in the last years, representing the third highest cause of death in Brazil. Facial trauma, especially facial fractures, sets biopsychosocial severe effects for victim´s, may cause temporary or permanent incapacitation, even patient death. The better understanding about the mean time of hospitalization of victim's facial trauma is significant because supplies necessary information for development and assessment of measures for reducing this time, factors determine and more agility in treating to these patients return to normal activities. The aim of this research was to analyze the mean time of hospitalization in patients with facial fractures who underwent surgical treatment at two hospitals of emergency and trauma in Paraiba - Brazil from January 2012 to December 2014. The research was duly registered in SISNEP (0119.0.133.000- 11), being an observational and epidemiological study using descriptive statistical procedure and retrospective secondary data using medical records of patients diagnosed with facial fractures treated by Oral and Maxillofacial Service. With the results, it was observed that the mean length of hospitalization was 4.3 days; patients who were victims of motorcycle accidents remain for up to two more days interned traumatized by that other etiological agents; the anatomical area fractured influence in the time of hospitalization, such that patients that have suffered fractures, Le Fort II, Le Fort III and multiple fractures of the face that stayed around longer hospitalized.
