VENTURIM, Rosalinda Tanuri Zaninotto; JOLY, Julio Cesar  e  VENTURIM, Luiz Roberto. Surgical techniques using connective tissue grafts for treatment of gingival recession. RGO, Rev. gaúch. odontol. (Online) [online]. 2011, vol.59, suppl.1, pp. 147-152. ISSN 1981-8637.

The aim of this literature review was to evaluate the use of connective tissue graft for treatment of gingival recession, as a solution of aesthetic problems and functional alterations. Relevant biological factors may be cause influence in the predictability of root coverage. And they are fundamental for the best therapeutic alternative choices. There are important alterations between the available techniques to minimize surgical trauma and they are related with best results. Such as procedures without relaxing incision, this procedure improves the graft nutrition, and minimizes the keloid development. Based at existing literature it is possible to conclude that connective tissue graft promotes clinical attachment gain, keratinized tissue increase, and root coverage. It is represent a viable and highly predictability alternative to the treatment of Miller's Class I and II gingival recession, providing excellent aesthetical results, however the Miller's Class III, there is reduced possibilities of root coverage, but the treatment may be considered, regarding the increase of keratinized tissue.
