NASCIMENTO, Monica Lobo do; RIBEIRO, Giselle Rodrigues; SALLES, Murilo Auler e  e  MORAES, Luciana Martins Crês. Comparison of the adaptation between estheticone abuttment prefabricated in gold and nickel-chromium after overcasting procedure and porcelain firing. Innov. Implant. J., Biomater. Esthet. (Online) [online]. 2010, vol.5, n.2, pp. 14-18. ISSN 1984-5960.

The adaptation of implant-supported fixed prosthetics is considered a major factor for its success over time. This study evaluated by light microscopy the vertical misfit of estheticone abutments as a result of the temperature changes triggered by porcelain firing. Mean initial readings before the overcast on the nickel / chromium cylinders was 12.20 ± 5.19 µm, and for the gold cylinder, 14.99 ± 5.25 µm, torque of 20 Ncm for both. The gold cylinders were waxed and casted with palladium / silver alloys, and nickel / chrome for nickel / chromium cylinders, which presented the following mean values, 9.41 ± 3.72 µm and 17.90 ± 3.72 µm ± 7.06 µm, respectively, with a torque of 20 Ncm. The third measure was obtained after the porcelain firing and it presented an average measure of 10.78 ± 1.40 µm for the gold cylinders and for nickel / chromium cylinders 1.96 ± 0.51 µm with 20 Ncm torque. The results show that the gold cylinders promote a better adaptation before and after overcast and porcelain firing. Statistically significant differences were observed for the palladium and silver alloy. In conclusion, the nickel chromium alloy is the best option due to its capacity to withstand temperature fluctuations during the overcast and the porcelain firing suffering only minor structural variations.
