CAMPI JUNIOR, Laurito et al. Passivity in implant-supported prosthesis. Innov. Implant. J., Biomater. Esthet. (Online) [online]. 2010, vol.5, n.3, pp. 53-59. ISSN 1984-5960.

Prosthesis with passive adaptation means that it can be screwed without tensions are generated. A structure without liability on the bone tissue may even lead to loss of osseointegration so passive adaptation was defined as the level that would not cause any clinical complication. The aim of this study was to evaluate the articles about the passivity of the metallic infrastructure, and what better laboratory methods that should be adopted to be performed so that might be considered the results satisfactory clinical significance. A passive fit is an important prerequisite for implant-supported prostheses. It limits the amount of stress transferred to the bone-implant interface and ensures long-term osseointegration, because the absolute passive fit is difficult to obtain. The clinician should perform laboratory procedures as necessary or proper sectioning of the prosthesis and weld parts with accuracy to no distortion.
