Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) represents the main cause of non-dental pain in orofacial region, and as well as several parts of stomatognathic system are involved, it is appropriate that dentists take responsibility for the treatment of such disease. Acupuncture is one of these therapies, which has been used in the treatment of TMD with great success, since it operates both locally in muscle relaxation and pain control, and systemically, seeking the patient´s physical, mental and emotional balance. This paper work describes the clinical case of patient R.A.P., whose TMD crisis caused discomfort, pain and also a great emotional insecurity, for the possibility of a new crisis. The treatment was conducted in 5 sessions and provided remission of local symptoms and a greater self-confidence, improving the patient´s quality of life
