The manuscripts should be submitted exclusively to the academic journal Arquivos em Odontologia (Archives of Dental Science); simultaneous submission (national or international), as regards both the article itself as well as the figures and tables, is expressly forbidden.

A limit of 6 (six) authors is recommended.

Authors must sign and submit a Certificate of Responsibility (click here for model).

Arquivos em Odontologia (Archives of Dental Science) retains all copyrights of published works. Articles submitted may be written in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, understanding that the revision of the article, as well as the content of the cited texts and bibliographic references, is of the sole responsibility of the authors. The opinions and concepts set forth in the articles are the authors' responsibility and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of Arquivos em Odontologia's Scientific Editors and Editorial Board.

Colored photos will not be published, except in cases of absolute necessity and only after having been accepted by the Scientific Editors and the Editorial Board.

Assessment Criteria

Articles will be assessed first by the Scientific Editors and Assistants as regards compliance with the publication guidelines. Should the article not comply with said guidelines, it will be immediately returned even before being submitted for assessment of merit.

Once compliance with norms has been approved, the article will be submitted for review by consultants as to the scientific merit and statistical precision. Works will be analyzed by at least two reviewers, from distinct areas of interest to the subject of the article, in addition to the Scientific Editors and Editorial Board. The names of the reviewers will remain anonymous, as will the names of the authors to the reviewers.

The Scientific Editors and Editorial Board shall have full authority to assess the merit of the works and decide on the publication of the article with or without changes, including a possible return of the article to the authors with suggestions as to the changes that should be made to the text and/or illustrations. In this case, the author will be requested to send a revised version containing due changes. Changes which, for whatever reason, are not made, must be justified in a letter from the author. This new version of the article will be re-assessed by the Scientific Editors and Editorial Board.

During the re-assessment of the articles, the Scientific Editors and Editorial Board may introduce changes to the original writing, in an attempt to improve the clarity and quality of the publication, respecting the style and opinions of the authors.

The articles that are not approved for publication will have their submission process closed definitively.
