Abstract

The posterior region of the maxillae presents unique conditions to the Implantodontia due to the fact of its bones deficiency structure and pneumatization of the maxillary sinus after the loss of dental elements. The technical surgery of sinus lift was developed with the intention to promote favorable conditions, through the increase of bone height, for the prosthetic whitewashing of this region through the osseointegrated implants installation making possible a better treatment of the edentulism in the pneumatized posterior maxillae. The objective of this research was to evaluate the sinus lift surgeries rising that were placed in the courses of Especialization and Professionalized Master in Implantodontia of the College of Odontology and CPO São Leopoldo Mandic, aiming to investigate the existence of any association between the presence intercorrencies and the other studied variavels, and its influence in the success and failure of this technical surgery uses. Were evaluated 156 surgeries done in 142 patients involving 194 maxillary sinus. The evaluated criteria had been sort, laterality, technical surgery, graft material and intercorrencies. In accordance with the results in the descriptive statistic analysis had been found intercorrency association with the factors of technical surgery and graft material used and the failures had presented strong indications of association with the factors sort, laterality and graft material used, without however, influencing the success of surgical procedures.
