Abstract

TREVELIN, LÍVIA TOSI  and  LOPEZ, THAIS TORRALBO. Using of frontal sinus X ray in human identification: a review of literature. RPG, Rev. pós-grad. [online]. 2012, vol.19, n.3, pp. 129-133. ISSN 0104-5695.

Radiology is a specialty that is extremely utilized in Forensic dentistry (or Forensic Odontology), since it allows comparative analysis of ante- and post-mortem radiographs of the oral and maxillofacial complex. Human identification by the frontal sinus has become increasingly frequent due to the uniqueness of the frontal sinus in humans, what makes it a valuable instrument in the individualization. However, it is necessary for the comparative analysis to consider the same methods used in the radiographs in life, this way it is possible to avoid distortions and errors. This paper is a historical review article which names several authors who use the frontal sinus as means for human identification.
