Abstract

BURGEL, Marília Ostermann  and  BORBA, Maristela Gutiérrez de. SEM analysis of apical anatomy of mandibular premolars. RFO UPF [online]. 2011, vol.16, n.1, pp. 49-53. ISSN 1413-4012.

Objectives: To determine, by means of SEM, the average diameter of the root canal main foramen lower premolars, the distance between the main foramen and the vertex of the root apex and determine the location of the main foramen. Methods: Were used 45 human lower pre-molars extracted. The device itself of the scanning electron microscope, there were measurements of the diameter of the foramen and the distance of up to the apex of the root apex. It was noted that in the face if externalize. Results and Conclusions: 56% and 75% of the first and second lower pre-molars examined had only one opening foraminal, and the average diameter of these was equivalent to 332,6 μm and 335,6 μm for these teeth, respectively. In 24,2% of the cases were particularly if output to distal and mesial to 21,2%. Only in 9,1% of the cases were mainly ended exactly at the apex apical, and the average distance to that point in lower pre-molars was 1,1 mm for the first and 1,0 mm for the second.
