Abstract

OLIVEIRA, Elias Pandonor Motcy de et al. Comparative analysis in vitro of coronal leakage in root canals filled with two different endodontic sealers. RFO UPF [online]. 2011, vol.16, n.3, pp. 282-286. ISSN 1413-4012.

Objetivo: The objective of this study is to analyze in vitro the filling property of two endodontic cements, Endofill TM and SealapexTM, as coronal leakage along the root canal. Methods: Thirty single-rooted teeth were divided into two groups in accordance with the filling material. The teeth were prepared, obturated by lateral condensation technique with gutta-percha and one of the cements evaluated and sealed with temporary restorative material CimpatTM. After that, the teeth were placed in an incubator at 37 oC and 100% humidity where they remained for seven days. Soon after that, the roots were sealed with nail polish and were placed in another container containing the dye marker Silver Nitrate 50%, remaining at 37 oC for ten days. After this period, the crowns were removed and the roots were transversely sectioned into three thirds: cervical, middle and apical. Results and conclusion: analysis of the cuts were achieved and the data were submitted to Fischer's exact test, with significance level of 5%, which showed that none of the two endodontic cements tested was able to prevent coronal leakage.
