Abstract

IRALA, Luis Eduardo Duarte; GONZATTI, Josy Michele; OLIVEIRA, Elias Pandonor Motcy de  and  SILVA, Kathrein Tapia da. Sonic agitation: an alternative apparatus for use in endodontic. RFO UPF [online]. 2012, vol.17, n.2, pp. 171-174. ISSN 1413-4012.

Objective: build a sonic agitation apparatus in order to perform endodontic irrigants agitation inside the radicular canal, mainly to be used during the final flush. Method and materials: an apparatus was set up based on a sonic toothbrush. The brush bristles were completely removed from its head, where has been opened in its most extreme portion, a small orifice in which was transfixed a nylon thread immobilized with resin cement. The nylon thread is responsible for transmitting sonic vibration to the liquid inside the radicular canal. Its value, that was measured by an oscilloscope, was 200 Hertz. Still, to differentiate it from other models, was given the name "agitator JI" to the modified sonic toothbrush. Conclusion: this study has shown an alternative technique of mounting an sonic apparatus in order to agitate liquids in the radicular canal.
