During orthodontic treatment, dental care professionals can face some complications, including apparatus fractures, ulcerations caused by the same fractures, questions regarding activation, characterizing the need for emergency dental care. Patients who were attented to at the Orthodontic Clinics of the extension, graduate and undergraduate courses at times required emergency care and had no access to reference clinics to acquire such services. This project's objective to fulfill this need not only attempts to solve the problem, but also provides a great theoretical and practical learning environment for the students. Students allowed to partake in this project include students enrolled in the 8th semester, selected by means of pre-established criteria, as well as students from the specialization course. Daily, a team of highly-skilled professors (supervisors) and students carry out the procedures in an attempt to improve the quality of treatment provided to patients, in turn contributing to sutdent education. The project a means through which to respond to emergencies in the orthodontic clinic, as well as train students to be up to par with standards of professionalism and the responsibilities associated with it.
