Abstract

TAVARES, Warley Luciano Fonseca et al. Choice of the Tagger's hybrid technique for the filling of root canals in a post-graduate clinic in endodontics. Arq. Odontol. [online]. 2012, vol.48, n.1, pp. 26-31. ISSN 1516-0939.

Aim: Evaluate the choice of technique for the filling of root canals in a post-graduate clinic in endodontics. Materials and Methods: The present study evaluated the medical records from patients attended to by students from the specialization course in endodontics at the Health Studies Institute (IES) in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, between August 2009 and November 2010. Results: A total of 404 teeth were filled. From this total, 32 (7.92%) were filled using the lateral condensation technique, 4 (0.99%) were filled using the continuous wave technique, while 368 teeth (91.08%) had their root canals filled using Tagger's hybrid technique. It could be observed that a significant percentage of students opted to use Tagger's hybrid technique in association with rotary instrumentation (p<0,05). Conclusion: During the evaluated time period, the students from the specialization course in endodontics at IES showed a predilection for Tagger's hybrid technique when filling root canals.
