Abstract

LOPES, Michelle Cristina; MASCARINI, Raphaella Capitoni  and  BASTING, Roberta Tarkany. Chemical-mechanical methods for the removal of caries. Arq. Odontol. [online]. 2012, vol.48, n.1, pp. 53-58. ISSN 1516-0939.

The treatment of dental caries in recent decades has focused on the removal of caries based on the principles of extension for prevention by means of rotator instruments for cut and wear. Currently, new materials have been introduced on the market through the use of products based on amino acids with sodium hypochloride or papain recommended for the chemical-mechanical removal of dental caries without using anesthesia or rotator instruments. These materials provide ultraconservative cavity designs. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to discuss the effectiveness of chemical-mechanical methods for the removal of dental caries.

Keywords : Dental caries; Dental restoration permanent; Papain.
