Abstract
SILVA JUNIOR, Manoelito Ferreira; PACHECO, Karina Tonini dos Santos and DE CARVALHO, Raquel Baroni. Multiplicity of activities performed by dental students in their internships: experience report. Arq. Odontol. [online]. 2015, vol.51, n.4, pp. 194-204. ISSN 1516-0939.
Aim: To present the multiplicity of actions performed by dental students in their internships in the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS). Methods: Through an experience report of one's Extramural Internship in Health Promotion II (EEMPS II) course from the School of Dentistry of the Federal University of Espírito Santo, this study will treat a wide range of theoretical and practical actions that can be performed during one's supervised internship. Activities include from individual clinical care services to collective health education activities and the prevention of oral diseases, developed in public health units and social spaces. Results: The activities proposed by this internship program present the planning and clear aims, which are representative of the local reality, thus opening the door to truly successful and beneficial experiences both for the dental care services, as well as for the dental student. Conclusion: The successful experience lived during the short period of the EEMPS II course reveals that there are several possibilities of activities for dental students within SUS, which effectively contribute to better professional training.
