This is a descriptive and documental case study that analyzes the participation of students in teachingresearch- extension activities proposed by the "PETSaúde" Program (Education Program through Health Work) at the State University of Montes Claros, Unimontes, for the period of 2010 to 2011. Data collection involved a documental analysis by program participants in scientific events and reports produced during the conducting of the "PET-Saúde" program. The scientific activities analyzed were those proposed by "PET-Saúde" under tutorial monitoring by Unimontes lecturers, professional instructors connected to the Family Health Strategy Project and academics in the following fields: dentistry, medicine, nursing, biologic sciences and physical education. Highlights of the program include project benefits to the students' training in the field of health, continuing education for instructors, and learning-health-service integration aimed at consolidating the Unified Health System.
