Abstract

The aim of this article was to evaluate the oral health knowledge and practical of teachers of primary (School Jose Bezerra de Menezes). For in such a way, a questionnaire was applied with 8 relative objective questions to the subject. The sample corresponded the 16 professionals registered in cadastre in the school. The analysis of the data was carried through by the statistical program Statistical Package will be the Social worked Sciences SPSS v.10.0 by descriptive statistics. The results had more pointed that the majority of the teachers transmits information concerning the buccal health to its pupils, being the verbal exposition the used method with respect to transmission of these knowledge, cited for 50% of the searched ones. 14 educators had told to have knowledge in regards to Preventive Odontology, of these 42.9% had said to be the informative brochures, books and periodicals the main sources of information on the subject. 93.75% of the teachers had informed that the sugars were the directly involved foods with the formation of the dental caries, however less of the half of these educators, 43.75%, they believe the multifactorial etiology of caries and 25% in the transferability of the same one. The specific knowledge regarding the Preventive Odontologia, the interviewed ones had affirmed that the fluorine served to fortify teeth against the carieses, and that the used technique was most important in the escovação. It is concluded that the searched ones had presented one limited knowledge on the etiology of the caries and a satisfactory knowledge concerning the Preventive Odontology, existing the necessity of implementation of programs of education continued regarding buccal health, in order to become these professionals of the education more enabled to approach these contents in classroom to its pupils.
