TOLEDO, Roseli; BRITTO, Maria Leticia Borges; PALLOTTA, Raul Capp  and  NABESHIMA, Cleber Keiti. Calcium hydroxide and Iodoform on endodontic treatment of immature teeth. IJD, Int. j. dent. [online]. 2010, vol.9, n.1, pp. 28-37. ISSN 1806-146X.

Providing the importance of dental anatomy and auxiliary chemical substances in the pulp therapy, this study aimed to review the scientific production on the effects of calcium hydroxide and Iodoform associated or not, on immature teeth. It was possible to establish the existence of difficulties because of anatomical conditions, state of mortification pulp, the inflammatory process and ease of periapical contamination of the system of root canals in these cases. The literature highlights the recommendation of the apicification and used the calcium hydroxide due to its effective action, even demanding a long time. Iodoform can be used in these cases too, because its antiseptic action and stimulation of immunologic system can act and influence positively. In order to improve the physical and chemical properties of this substance, such as radiopacity, it is suggested that the association with iodoform, in turn, does not interfere with antibacterial properties.
