Mandibular condylar hyperplasia is a malformation of development of development, characterized by an excessive and self-limitating condylar growth, resulting in occlusal disturbances and facial asymmetry. The etiology of this condition has not yet been fully clarified despite the fact that factors like previous trauma, hormonal disturbances and joint diseases have been indicated as possible causes. There are many classifications of the condition and different forms of treatment are possible depending on the type of presentation. In view of this, choosing the most appropriate form of treatment may represent a challenge. The purpose of this paper is to present the case of a fourteen-year-old boy with an active mandibular condylar hyperplasia treated previously by a high condylectomy without the need for any further ortognatic surgery.
