Abstract

VASCONCELOS, Belmiro Cavalcanti do Egito; PORTO, Gabriela Granja; NASCIMENTO, Mirella Marques Mercês do  and  CAVALCANTE, Josuel Raimundo. Expansion of the alveolar edge following tooth avulsion: report of a case. Rev. cir. traumatol. buco-maxilo-fac. [online]. 2010, vol.10, n.3, pp. 025-028. ISSN 1808-5210.

Dentoalveolar trauma may lead to a bone defect in the alveolar ridge that makes prosthetic rehabilitation very difficult. Various techniques have been described to compensate for the anatomic and bone-quality limitations. The aim of this article is to propose a technique for a cortical expansion using implant drills and tap in a less invasive and less complex fashion than the previously described techniques, as well as avoiding the use of bone grafting.

Keywords : maxilla; dental implantation; endosseous; alveolar ridge augmentation.
