Resection of the mandible in the treatment of tumors produces major aesthetic and functional changes that are currently being minimized by the use of reconstructive plates with prior modeling in prototypes. The adaptation of these reconstructive plates aims to recreate the original anatomical contour; the process is sometimes hampered, however, by the expansion of cortical bone, induced by tumor growth. The purpose of this article is to describe the development of a device capable of faithfully adapting reconstructive plates in a rapid manner and at low cost.
