Abstract

PEREIRA, Ingrid Cristina da Silva et al. Surgical Reduction Of Oblique Mandibular Fractures: Lag Screws X Titanium Screws And Plates - A Case Report. Rev. cir. traumatol. buco-maxilo-fac. [online]. 2011, vol.11, n.3, pp. 69-76. ISSN 1808-5210.

The aim of the present study is to present two clinical cases of reduction of mandibular fractures. Case I: A male, white 29-year-old patient was the victim of a motorcycle accident. Physical examination revealed swelling, pain and trismus. The radiographic examinations suggested a fracture of the right side of the mandible, which is transversely oblique. On the basis of the clinical and radiographic findings a surgical approach was chosen for the reduction of the fractured segments using lag screws. Case II: A 35-year-old male patient had sustained a bullet wound from a firearm. Physical examination revealed edema and the orifice through which the projectile had passed. The radiographic examination suggested a complete fracture of the mandible on the right side. Considering the clinical and radiographic examinations, we opted for a surgical approach for the reduction of the fractured segments with titanium plates and screws
