Abstract

SILVA, Fabiana Caroline da; REBELLATO, Nelson luís Barbosa  and  FERNANDES, Ângela. Cone beam computed tomography in the planning of implants in an atrophic maxilla: a case report. Rev. cir. traumatol. buco-maxilo-fac. [online]. 2013, vol.13, n.1, pp. 65-70. ISSN 1808-5210.

An appropriate treatment plan is indispensable for successful rehabilitation in implantology. One of the prerequisites is the assessment of the quality, height and width of the bone and vital anatomical structures, by means of imaging for the purpose of diagnosis. This study presents a case based on the planning of surgery with dental implants by means of cone beam computed tomography in an atrophic maxilla with severe bone resorption. It also highlights the importance of acquiring images using this method in order to eliminate unnecessary surgical phases, thereby offering more comfort and fewer risks to patients, as compared with conventional imaging techniques

Keywords : Dental Implantation; Cone-Beam Computed Tomography; Bone Resorption.
