Abstract
JETRO, Valdemir et al. Dentoalveolar trauma: knowledge level And the urgency conduct of caicó's firemen. Rev. cir. traumatol. buco-maxilo-fac. [online]. 2013, vol.13, n.2, pp. 101-107. ISSN 1808-5210.
Objective: To identify the knowledge level and the emergency procedure of Caicó Fire Department in relation to dentoalveolar trauma. Methodology: The sample was composed of fifty firemen of Caicó 3rd SGB / 2nd GB Unity. For the collection of research data, the volunteers answered a questionnaire about dentoalveolar trauma containing twelve questions, two subjective and ten objective multiple choice questions. Results: The results revealed that 100% of the firemen weren't trained about dentoalveolar trauma. only 24% have already had some experience with this kind of injury and only 14% of them would seek a dental clinic faced with a patient with a dentoalveolar trauma. Conclusions: The knowledge of Caicó's firemen about the dentoalveolar trauma and its emergency treatment is considered unsatisfactory. Firemen with paramedic training must be orientated about how to proceed front of an accident victim to improve the treatment prognosis.
