Abstract

Objetive Summarize the knowledge about community support and elderly health, constructing categories about the main issue of each analyzed article. Methods It was analyzed 31 articles written in English which were accessed by Lilacs and Pubmed/Medlne data base. The sample of study was reached by the descriptors Community Networks and Health Services for the Aged between 1997 and 2011. Results Most of the articles was published in Health and technology journals (37.6%), 37.5% were represented quantitative researches and 35.5% were Literature Reviews. Among all the categories that were studied it was observed that Primary Health Concepts was the most prevalent, with 33.4% of the published articles. Conclusion This research considered that new studies should be developed and that the Primary Health, as a procedure to reorganize the public health system, helps to construct the social and community-based support to the elderly people with some guiding principles.
