Abstract

CARNEIRO, Marcelo Bertolete et al. Coating tools and implantology. Innov. Implant. J., Biomater. Esthet. (Online) [online]. 2010, vol.5, n.1, pp. 41-43. ISSN 1984-5960.

The goal of this work is to evaluate the Balinit® C coating in dentistry drills, trough flank wear in coated and uncoated tools of the martensitic stainless steel. The BALINIT® C coating has the important characteristic of having low coefficient of friction and there is no restriction on the applicability in medical and surgical instruments. The drilling tests were carried out, at dry, in a PROMILL 2VS-E milling with fixed cutting conditions (spindle speed and feed velocity), and using bovine femur as work samples. The wear results were registered in a scanning electron microscope and show that the coating tends to prolong the drill life.
