CAMPOS, Adriana Lima. Principles of osseointegrated implants on the treatment and prevention of Combination Syndrome. Innov. Implant. J., Biomater. Esthet. (Online) [online]. 2010, vol.5, n.2, pp. 60-64. ISSN 1984-5960.

The Combination Syndrome, a pathologic condition of the stomatognathic system was clinically observed and described long ago by Kelly in 1972, that occur in patients who wearing a complete maxillary denture opposed by natural mandibular anterior teeth and a bilateral distal extension removable partial denture. It is characterized by bone loss from the anterior part of the maxillary ridge due to the lack of posterior teeth in both quadrants. Here, we presented a case where a 55 years-old male patient received dental implants by means of immediate loading (All-on-Four technique) in the maxillary arch, opposing posterior, bilateral partial fixed prostheses in the mandibular arch. In this way, occlusion was established and balanced with the surrounding oral structures, thus reducing masticatory loads in the anterior region.
