Abstract

CIUCCIO, Ricardo Luiz; LUIZ, Nelis Evangelista; JACOMINI FILHO, Athos  and  SOARES, Michel Aislan Dantas. Comparison of results of experimental tests with numerical simulation by finite element method in plate buco maxilo facial surgery. Innov. Implant. J., Biomater. Esthet. (Online) [online]. 2010, vol.5, n.3, pp. 35-38. ISSN 1984-5960.

This paper presents a comparative study of oral and maxillofacial reconstruction plates with the purpose to evaluate the durability and strength of the product. The use of plates and screws in the treatment of trauma and maxillofacial deformities is increasing, as new research supports its efficacy and safety compared with other techniques used previously. O main objective is to compare the mechanical properties of the plates, maxillofacial manufactured from titanium, through numerical simulation using the finite element method with the results obtained experimentally. The methodology used in this research is exploratory, was developed from experimental tests and computer simulations.
